Scholarship recipient - Jad Ratificar

June 9, 2011

The Friends of the Maricopa Public Library presented Jad Ratificar, Maricopa High School Senior Class of 2011, a $2000 scholarship to be used toward his continuing education at ASU next semester.

Jad has been involved in the National Honor Society, Maricopa Youth City Council, Key Club, and Asian Pacific Association club during his time at Maricopa High.

He will be attending ASU in the fall to pursue a medical degree. Jad said, "Through this scholarship I can pursue my dream of becoming a heart surgeon so that I can serve those who are less fortunate around the world as well as within the United States ."

The Mission of the Friends of the Maricopa Public Library is to develop resources to support library services and programs, and encourage enjoyment of reading, lifelong learning, and community involvement.  The organization is dedicated to the service and support of its Mission through developing fund-raising opportunities, enhancing public relations, building active memberships, and recruiting volunteers.

"We are excited to be able to offer a scholarship this year toward the continuing education of one of Maricopa’s graduating seniors, and we hope that we will be able to offer one each year. We wish Jad much success in school and his career.” said Nancy McTighe, President of the Friends of the Maricopa Public Library.
