The Friends would like to congratulate all 216 participants who enrolled in the Summer Reading Program.  Between June 1st and August 8th, they read 198,780 minutes!  That is 3,313 hours and almost 138 days!  It is really great to see.

Throughout the program, coupons for ice cream cones were given out after reaching 10 hours.  At 20 hours, children were given a chance to pick out an item from the grab bag (colored chalks, paint your own dinosaur or bug, build your own birdhouse kit) while the young adults and adults received Friends of the Library book bags filled with pencils and bookmarks.  For each additional 10 hours of reading, the participant received an entry in the grand prize drawing.

The grand prize drawing was held on Saturday, August 15th and the winners were recognized by Mayor Smith at the City Council meeting on August 18th.
